A FOOTBALL fan has appeared in court charged with racially abusing a Blackpool footballer during a match.
Robert Mason is alleged to have made racist comments to striker Jason Euell at Stoke’s Britannia Stadium last month.
Mason, of Bradwell Lane, Newcastle-under-Lyme, was granted unconditional bail during a brief hearing at Fenton Magistrates’ Court, Staffordshire.
The 47-year-old, whose case was heard without magistrates, was not required to enter a plea to a charge of racially aggravated threatening behaviour. He was ordered to reappear at the same court on November 10.
He was arrested by Staffordshire Police on September 22 after Euell complained that he was racially abused during Stoke’s 4-3 Carling Cup victory over the Seasiders.
